Dr. Rasha Buhumaid
Dr. Rasha Buhumaid was appointed as the Dean of the College of Medicine in 2025. She is a Consultant Emergency Physician with a special interest in Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS). Dr. Buhumaid serves as the General Secretary of the Emirates Society of Emergency Medicine and is a member of the Examination Committee of the Arab Board of Emergency Medicine. She is deeply committed to medical education and has been actively involved in teaching residents, interns, and medical students, contributing significantly to the advancement of emergency medicine in the region.
The Deanship of GME, together with its affiliated training hospitals, are committed to attracting high-caliber trainees and faculty with the aim to create a robust platform for an outstanding clinical training. Our ultimate objective is to make Dubai the “Destination of Choice for Graduate Medical Education”.”

Dear prospective Resident/Fellow,
I take great pleasure in welcoming you to our GME community at MBRU.
In alignment with MBRU’s mission “To advance health in the U.A.E. and the region, through an innovative and integrated academic health system, that is nationally responsive and globally connected, serving individuals and communities”, our programs are developed, assessed, and reviewed periodically to ensure that all our trainees receive the best clinical training and didactic education as per international benchmarks. Our faculty members are not only committed professionals who understand the local and regional needs but also come with a wealth of international experience, reflecting our aim to provide training and practice that is nationally responsive and globally connected. All our training sites have state-of-the-art facilities and provide an outstanding educational experience.
Our programs are accredited and recognized in the region and the world. We are committed to continuous improvement of our programs in our pursuit for excellence. Trainees are represented on our Institutional Training Committee to ensure that you are listened to and catered for as the key stakeholder of our programs.
As a health professional myself, I believe in the quote that says, “The chapter you are learning today is going to save someone’s life tomorrow.” I therefore strongly encourage you to take advantage of your opportunities during your training period as we support and facilitate your transformation to independent, confident and successful medically specialized professional of the future, impacting the society and the world at large.
